# Customize Reports

Add your logo, mark drafts, round to thousands, and hide empty rows, so your reports are ready to share in Kick and on download.

Get your reports ready for investors, lenders, or your board. Add your logo, mark a draft, show amounts in thousands, and hide accounts you don't use. Set it once, and it applies to every report in Kick and every download.

***

### Open the report settings

1. Go to **Settings → Accounting**.
2. Under **Preferences**, find **Reports** and click **Customize reports**.

You need to be the Primary Admin, an Admin, or an Accountant in the workspace. See [Roles & Permissions](/reference/roles-and-permissions.md).

### Choose what to change

Leave **Entity** and **Report** on **Client default** to change every business and report. To give one business or one report its own settings, pick it. The preview on the right updates as you type.

A setting for one report wins over **Client default**. For example, a title set for the **Balance Sheet** replaces the **Client default** title on that report.

To undo a change, click the reset icon next to the setting.

***

### Layout

This is the text above and below the numbers. By default, **Title** is your business name, **Subtitle** is the report name, and **Subtitle 2** is the date range. **Footer** shows "Kick.co", your accounting basis, and when the report was generated.

Type text, or click **+** to insert a variable that fills in for each report, such as **Entity name** or **Report period**. A line that ends up blank is left off the report.

At the bottom of **Layout**, **Account visibility** sets which accounts show as rows:

* **All accounts**. Every account, including ones you've never used.
* **Has activity**. Accounts with any transaction. This is the default for most reports.
* **Has a balance**. Accounts with a nonzero balance. This is the default for the Trial Balance and the Cash Flow Statement.
* **Standard**. The General Ledger default.

***

### Formatting

By default, negatives show in parentheses, with 2 decimals, a thousands separator, no currency symbol, and a dash for zero. You can change:

* **Negative numbers**, and **Show negatives in red**
* **Decimal places** and **Percentage decimals**
* **Currency symbol**, such as $
* **Zero amounts**: a dash, blank, or 0
* **Thousands separator**
* **Amount scale**: **Full (1,234,567)**, **Thousands (1,235)**, or **Millions (1.2)**

With **Thousands** or **Millions**, Kick adds "(in thousands)" or "(in millions)" under the heading so readers know the scale.

***

### PDF export

The logo and watermark show on PDFs only. Every other setting applies in Kick and on every download.

* **Logo**. Check **Entity logo** to add your business's logo from the entity's settings. If a firm manages your books, **Firm logo** adds theirs.
* **Watermark**. Text across every page, up to 50 characters, such as "Draft", "Confidential", or "Unaudited".

***

### Save

Click **Save**, or press Cmd+Enter. Your settings apply right away, for everyone in your workspace. Files you downloaded earlier don't change.

***

### If an accountant manages your books

Your firm may apply a template that sets how your reports look.

Your changes win over the template. When the firm updates the template, you get its changes, except for settings you've changed yourself. If the firm applied a template to one business, that business ignores your workspace-wide changes, so pick it in **Entity** to change it.

### FAQs

<details>

<summary><strong>Can I remove "Kick.co" from my reports?</strong></summary>

Yes. In **Layout**, edit **Footer**. Delete the text, or replace it with your own, such as your company name.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>I changed the Client default title, but one report didn't change. Why?</strong></summary>

That report has its own title. Pick it in **Report**, then click the reset icon next to **Title**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.kick.co/reports/customize-reports.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
